Let me tell you something about new synergy between AutoUpdate and Ant.

NetBeans 6.8 is almost out of the door and it is the right time to think about improvements for NetBeans 6.9. One of the painful tasks everyone has to deal with is (headless) setup of NetBeans platform. The painful days are over! There is a new netbeans:AutoUpdateTask API for you.

With simple syntax and just with plain Ant one can prepare own, personal and tailored NetBeans platform. This is probably only useful for Ant users, fans of Maven will prefer to deal with its own repository, but still: netbeans:NBM format has been in use since the end of last century and it is good it is now easily reusable via Ant.
