Utter nonsense at the end about patents, you shouldn't speculate about what you don't understand. The OSGi Alliance rules require all contributions made by its members (including IBM) to be provided with patent indemnities. Sun does have lawyers who do understand this, I assume.

Also note that OSGi has existed in its present form since 1999, so it clearly predates NetBeans Runtime Container.

On the other hand, this is what I see when downloading the spec "certain elements of the OSGi Alliance Specification may be subject to third party intellectual property rights, including without limitation, patent rights" - can you tell me where exactly is your indemnification?

Arguing about who's more older is always a bit silly. Sorry for starting this, it is only essential for the prior art claim. But how did you come up with year 1999? The OSGi history page says: "OSGi Service Gateway Release 1 was released in May 2000". Moreover that is only a specification, not implementation used in production.
