For the first time in my life I could use the [[wikipedia:BitTorrent_protocol|torrent]] client without violating anyone else rights. Of course one gets just electronic version and thus it cannot replace the feeling of holding real book in hands. Also it cannot be signed by the author. That is obviously essential drawback. That is why I still recommend to [http://buy.apidesign.org order via amazon] and/or stopping by to get written dedication.

From time to time I search the Internet to see whether there are some new reactions to my book. Yesterday I searched again and to my surprise I found a torrent of the Practical API Design book. Somebody had to think the text is so valuable that it shall be shared!

Now I am in the same group as musicians and movie stars, my work is being copied! Without royalties, but it still makes me proud. Is there anything better for a book author than knowing that his book is read by someone? As one reader attracted by the online version puts it: Look at the upside. If I didn't come across the PDF, I probably wouldn't have ever discovered your book and forked over the $60 for the hardcopy. :-)

In case you get the same feeling after scanning through the torrent version, don't hesitate to order via amazon and/or stopping by to get written dedication.

Enjoy API Design!
