Blockchain seems becoming more and more popular. In spite of its maintenance costs! Computing it consumes more power supply than power consumption a of a single state. Still there are people who tend to believe we could put the whole (at least OpenSource) software on the planet into a single Git repository (rather than having individual Git repositories) and by doing that solve all the versioning issues for once and ever (as each successfully verified commit would define one together working version of all the planet software)!
