Thanks for your comment about subversion in [[errata]], but I do not think it is comparable. I managed to commit many times to svn repository without being fully "svn up". The fact that it sometimes may not work, does not compare to the fact that with Hg it never works. I'll experimentally verify again and then correct your statement.
